Software

Audio codec support

The Archos Media Center (AMC) is capable of decoding the following codecs:

  • FLAC up to 1000kbs @44hz
  • AAC (except protected content) - available as a free plugin
  • AAC+ stereo audio files
  • with paid plugin: AC3 stereo audio and 5.1 sound files (via SPDIF output of DVR Station)
  • Note: An image in the folder of your music files named Folder.jpg will ensure that the Archos Media Center (AMC) software displays your album art. Android's music app, on the other hand, wants album art to be embedded into the music file.

Video codec support

The Video Player is capable of decoding the following codecs:

  • H.264 Base/Main/High Profile up to 720p resolution - 30fps / 2.5 Mbps
  • MPEG-4 Part 2 ASP (i.e. Xvid/DivX) - 30fps / 2.5Mbps
  • Realvideo(TM) up to 720p resolution - 30fps / 2.5Mbps


The Video Player is capable of reading the following container types:

  • .avi
  • .mp4
  • .mkv
  • .mov
  • .flv
